As part of Environmental Capital Partners' relationship with New York Private Bank & Trust, the nation's largest privately owned bank, Howard P. Milstein and Barry S. Friedberg will serve on ECP's Investment Committee along with Managing Partners William W. Staudt and Robert L. Egan.
Howard P. Milstein is President and CEO of NYPB&T. In addition, he is co-Chairman, President, and CEO of Emigrant Bank; Managing Partner of Milstein Properties, an investment builder active in both residential and commercial development; Founding Chairman of the asset management firm FriedbergMilstein; and Chairman of MB Real Estate, a commercial leasing and management company. Mr. Milstein is a Trustee Emeritus of Cornell University and an Overseer of the Weill Cornell Medical College. In addition, he is a member of the National Board of the Smithsonian Institution, the Board of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, and is active in numerous other civic and philanthropic organizations. Mr. Milstein received his B.A. from Cornell University and a J.D. and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
Barry S. Friedberg is a Director of NYPB&T and President and CEO of FriedbergMilstein, an asset manager with $1.4 billion under management. Prior to co-founding FriedbergMilstein he spent 40 years in the investment banking business with Merrill Lynch and Co. Inc. and its predecessor institutions. For twelve years he served as an Executive Vice President and a member of the firm's ten-member Executive Management Committee. Previously Mr. Friedberg served as head of Merrill's Investment Banking Group from January 1985 until May 1993, with responsibility for all of its advisory and capital raising relationships with corporations. He also was responsible for certain of Merrill Lynch's principal investing activities including Merrill Lynch Capital Partners. Mr. Friedberg began his career in 1963 with Chemical Bank. In 1964, he joined A.G. Becker, which was acquired by Merrill Lynch in 1984. Mr. Friedberg also serves as a Senior Advisor to Crestview Partners, a private equity firm. He is Chairman of the Board of the New York City Ballet, a board member of Boys & Girls Harbor, Inc., the American Hospital of Paris Foundation, and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Friedberg received his B.A. from Princeton University.
